A new cinema will open in Paris. The Jeu de Paume, an art center located in the Tuileries Gardens in the center of the capital, will open a new cinema on November 12.
Classified as an “art house” by the CNC, this room located on level 2 of the art center has capacity for 90 people. According to the Jeu de Paume, “no less than 400 sessions” will be offered throughout the year “for all audiences.”
The Jeu de Paume will defend independent cinema and, in particular, “first or second films” screened during the Cannes Critics’ Week or at the Champs-Elysées Film Festival.
The sessions will be scheduled for adults from Tuesday to Sunday at 11:15, 3:00 and 6:30 p.m. Children will have the right to their sessions on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sunday mornings at 11:45 am. And also during school holidays.
Reopening of the Pagoda soon
Paume’s Game is currently hosting a retrospective dedicated to director Chantal Akerman, who signed Jeanne Dielman, 23 years old, quai du commerce, 1080 Brusselsconsidered the best movie of all time.
Another cinema opened its doors in Paris: the Palais Pathé, former Gaumont Opera. Since last July, this place located between Boulevard des Capucines and Rue de la Chaussée d’Antin, not far from the Opera Garnier, has offered “a high-level experience.”
La Pagode, the oldest arthouse cinema in Paris, has been closed since 2015. Currently undergoing renovation, thanks to its purchase by the American philanthropist magnate Charles Cohen, it aims to reopen in 2025.
