It is the royal family’s favorite playground. Harry and Meghan take on polo, Charles and William’s favorite game, in a documentary they are producing for Netflix that will air on December 10.
This 5-episode documentary series aims to tell the behind-the-scenes story of this sport. “Through fierce rivalries and intense training, viewers will get an unprecedented look at the dedication and skills required to compete at the highest level of the sport,” Netflix promises.
Real sport par excellence
The trailer for the series, presented at the end of last week, follows several competitors on the field, but also in their personal lives, with their families and during training. For example, we know Nacho Figueras, famous Argentine player, great friend of Prince Harry.
Presented as “executive producers,” Harry and Meghan do not appear on screen. At least not in the trailer.
This is the Sussexes’ fourth production for Netflix, after the documentary series about their life, Harry and MeghanSo Lives to lead: leaders at heartabout “prominent leaders and, finally, a documentary about the Invictus Games in 2023.
Only its first production attracted viewers, appearing among the most viewed content on the platform. The rest of the content, less personal, excited the public much less and did not reach the top 10 in any country.
Polo is the sport of the royal family par excellence. Prince Philip practiced it, as did King Charles and his sons. It is said that it was at a polo match that Charles met Camilla in 1971.
