Perhaps the beginning of a career in cinema. Deva Cassel, 20, daughter of Vincent Cassel and Monica Belluci, will appear in her first film.
Released in 2023 in Italy, La bella estate (The Beautiful Summer) is just now hitting French screens, and French audiences will be able to discover it on Wednesday, November 27.
This film by Laura Lucchetti is based on a novel by Italian writer Cesare Pavese and is set in 1938. It follows a young woman, Ginia (Yile Vianello), who comes from the Piedmontese countryside to settle in Turin. There she meets Amelia (Deva Cassel), who poses for painters and fascinates her.
A Netflix series
On Instagram, the young actress described this experience as “one of the most surprising, interesting, fun, profound and enriching of (her) life.”
Deva Cassel will also appear in 2025 in a Netflix series, by the same director titled the cheetah. It is a television adaptation of the novel by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, on which the famous film by Luchino Visconti with Alain Delon, Burt Lancaster and Claudia Cardinale is based.
A few days ago a first preview of this six-episode miniseries was broadcast. Deva Cassel will play the role of Angelica Sedara, played by Claudia Cardinale in 1963.
She will also be seen in another film, titled Nativity sceneby Mexican director Alejandro Monteverde (sound of freedom), with Ben Mendelsohn, Gael García Bela and Sam Worthington.
Until now, the young woman who grew up between Paris and Rome was best known for her work as a model. A Dolce Gabbana muse like her mother, this model of precocious beauty has walked on catwalks around the world and has appeared on the covers of the most important fashion magazines, Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, since she was 14 years old.
