Good news for parents: eight years after the launch of Moana: The Legend of the End of the WorldThe sequel hits theaters this Wednesday, November 27. A new trip to the Pacific, with new songs.
After receiving an unexpected invitation from her ancestors, the young rebellious heroine Moana embarks on a journey that will take her to the dangerous waters at the edge of the seas of the Pacific Islands.
“This film offers you a journey,” Mareva Galanter, the French voice of Sina, Moana’s mother, tells BFMTV. “You travel to these remote islands in the Pacific. The scenery is stunning. The images are sublime.”
Great success
Enough to delight young audiences, who for the last eight years have hailed the film to become the most popular on the Disney+ platform (and one of the most streamed films on all platforms combined).
“We were very surprised (to find out about that),” reacts Anthony Kavanagh, French voice of the god Maui. “It’s not surprising, because it’s made for everyone,” adds Cerise Calixte, who voices the character of Moana in French.
The first film owes its fame to its songs. “I have received messages on social media every week for eight years from parents writing to me asking me to sing the song (from the film),” says Anthony Kavanagh.
“Parents tell me they are tired of listening to the album moana“, continues the actor. “They ask me if we are going to release a second one. Well, we’re launching a second one! Finally there are new songs.”
“From the emotion of laughter”
The sequel will live up to expectations, he assures. “There’s everything in this movie. It’s off to a good start. There’s excitement, there’s laughter. There’s something for the whole family. The songs are great.”
The musical style songs rub shoulders with more hip hop pieces. “The songs are super difficult. There are many different styles,” emphasizes Cerise Calixte, former candidate for. The Voice who performs six songs in the film.
“We discovered the songs when we got to the studio,” he says. “It is a very difficult exercise and at the same time it provides a lot of freshness. I knew that the songs were going to be difficult. I warmed up vocally a month before.”
The actors are preparing to receive many messages from fans after the release. “I can’t wait to get feedback from people,” says Cerise Calixte. “I arrived at the beginning of the recordings with pressure. “People have an expectation.”
“I have to live up to these expectations,” he adds. “At first it was very difficult, then very quickly I told myself that I had to let myself go and I projected myself on stage with the audience.”
