The royal family in the spotlight. Visiting the city of York to inaugurate a statue of Elizabeth II, the royal couple, Charles III and Queen Camilla, were attacked by a man who tried to throw eggs at them, various British media report.
“God Saves the King”
According to witnesses present at the scene, the individual, quickly arrested by the security services, would have shouted in the direction of the sovereign that Great Britain had been “built on the blood of slavery”. No projectile hit the royal couple.
Pinned to the ground, the man was reprimanded by other Britons present to attend the royal visit. “Shame on you,” one of them yelled at him, while others yelled “God save the King.”
