Andor’s director tells us that Princess Leia’s Easter egg hasn’t been seen yet

There will be spoiler alerts for the current episodes of Andor in this story, so if you haven’t seen episode nine yet, you might want to go back now.

Andor was a notable addition to the Star Wars canon on Disney +, completing the larger story of rebel fighter Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) as he paints broader stretches of Empire corruption and the rise of the Resistance in various corners of the Star Wars universe. It’s still a prequel, for those interested in seeing the Star Wars stories in order . But that doesn’t mean Andor can’t refer to things that will happen in future stories (and past movies). As the visual cue that Andor director Toby Haynes, a favorite of the cast slipped into episode nine of the first season.

Episode nine, titled “Nobody Listens!”, Marks the central chapter of the gripping story of the prison deviation, as Cassian aligns himself with the other prisoners but gradually loses his captor’s resolve. the brilliant Andy Serkis plays Kino Loy. During this subplot, the Imperial Security Bureau of the Empire does its best to unearth Cassian, not realizing that they have imprisoned him, so they take custody of dear friend Bix (Adria Arjona) on sight of him and begin interrogating him. It looks painful.

However, during this scene, Andor Director Toby Haynes reveals that he saw a way to compare Bix’s plight with a time when Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hopewhere Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia (an unofficial Disney princess ) is also about to be tortured for informational purposes. And even if Haynes admits it Andor writer Tony Gilroy not exactly an easter egg, the director couldn’t help but include a nod to the film that started it all. As he told Gossipify:

There was an Easter egg. I don’t know if you saw the Easter egg in episode nine, it was just a shot I saw while we were shooting the torture scene. It reminded me a lot of when Princess Leia was about to be tortured in the first Star Wars. So, there is a sliding door and someone walks through the Death Star door. And I just wanted to match that moment. I would really do these things without necessarily telling Tony, because I think he would make him nervous. That if we go on too many dates, they’ll get you out of the drama. His impulse is: “Is it credible? Do you like dramas? For him it is essential. Anything that distracts him would be dangerous for him.

The best thing about Andor, so far, is that, like its predecessor, your loved one Rogue One: A Star Wars Story , finds success by telling stories intertwined with Star Wars mythology but not involved in the attraction of legacy characters and the Skywalker saga. Tony Gilroy knew Cassian Andor had enough history to do it support a spin-off series . Nobody knows where they go from here. But you can keep following the series as long as yours Disney + subscription It is up to date.
