As inflation tops 10% in the UK, King Charles has decided to make a gesture for his staff. According to Suntransmitted by the guardianstaff working for King Carlos will receive bonuses of up to 600 pounds (about 685 euros), to counteract the effects of inflation.
This is a decreasing bonus, depending on salary level. Staff members earning less than £30,000 a year will receive £600, those earning between £30 and £40,000 will receive £400, while those earning between £40 and £45,000 will receive £350.
“Very aware” of the crisis
“The king gives money out of his own pocket to the lowest-paid people who work for the house, to help them cope with the cost of living crisis,” said a source quoted by the Sun.
“The king is well aware of the increasing energy bills faced by the people and is concerned for the financial well-being of the loyal palace staff.”
Already last June, when the royal accounts were published, the British media relayed a “royal source” assuring that the royal family was “very aware” of the rising cost of living for the British.
On September 14, a few days after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the employees of Clarence House, the residence of Prince Charles, had been notified of their future dismissal due to the transfer to Buckingham of the prince who would become king. The king ultimately did not move and continues to live at Clarence House.
