“It was a time, I had the feeling that the environment was a bit toxic,” he says, as variety relays.

“James Hong was the actor who was in the episode with me, and (the deputy director) called him to enter the set and basically said: ‘P *****, where is the Asian? Bring the Asians.”

“It goes beyond this series. This is not the first time,” he continues. “It was a normal environment in Hollywood in 1997, I imagine. And nobody felt the need to correct it or say anything. Therefore, it was normal behavior.”

“If it were an isolated accident, I would not have been forced to write this letter. Unfortunately, I see that this attitude and this behavior are the norm in Hollywood. I know that many people who have experienced this type of indignity in the set of a film or a television series, and may be sure that this type of thing is also happening in the business world.”

“Racist crimes against US-Asian peoples are increasing in this country, and the negative portraits of Asians in the media only encourage this trend,” he added.
