Influential producer in Hollywood
Born in New York, Stanley R. Jaffe began his career in the 1960s in Seven Arts Productions. In 1969, he produced his first film, Goodbye, ColumbusAdapted from the Philip Roth’s short stories collection, for Paramount Pictures, of which he will become vice president and operations director a year later.
In 1971, Stanley R. Jaffe left Paramount to launch his own Jaffilms production company, with which he produced the films The rebels come from hell AND The owl team. In 1981, he produced the film in 1981 Cracksthat takes place in a military academy and that launches the career of two young actors … Tom Cruise and Sean Penn.
After a brief visit to Columbia Pictures, in 1977, Stanley R. Jaffe recovered again independent and produced the American test film Kramer against KramerWith Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman, who will win the Oscar for the best film in 1980.
Then he returned to Paramount Pictures, in 1992, to succeed Brandon Tetikoff as CEO of the studies, before being grateful in 1994 during the acquisition of the company for Viacom.
