High-profile genre TV shows such as The boys They tend to have incredibly passionate fan bases. Unfortunately, however, there may also be a level of toxicity running through this stream of goodwill. Sadly, series regular Erin Moriarty, who plays Annie January / Starlight, has found herself the target of such viral virulence. As a result, the actress recently took to social media to talk about the toxicity she faces, and her comments have received support from co-stars like Jack Quaid.
in one instagram post, Erin Moriarity shared excerpts from an article that examined the backlash she received from the fan base. Many comments revolve around the appearance of the actress, and others refer to the actions of the character of her. The screenshots were accompanied by a long caption, in which it is said that she feels “silent” and “dehumanized” due to the comments she has seen online. The star also talked about how she grew up following the situation:
I feel silenced. I feel dehumanized. I feel paralyzed. I put blood, sweat and tears into this role (over and over and over again), I grew up in this character (* the focus is on adults: we change and evolve mentally and physically). a) thanks to @butcherscanario b) my heart breaks: I opened a vein for this role and this kind of trolling is exactly what this role would be all about (Annie) and c) everyone is fighting their own battle; We add nothing to this. I will never intentionally (and ESPECIALLY) add yours publicly. He just tightened the muscles of my empathy and of all those who approach me: I see you, I don’t hate you, I sympathize and forgive.
During the first three seasons of the show, very moral starlight turned out to be one of the most complex and tragic characters The boys. As a child, she was raised believing that her powers were a gift from God when she in fact she was given Compound V of her at an early age. And as an adult, she was sexually assaulted by bandmate The Deep and forced to publicly appear as the lover of Homeland, which tends to do bad things, in the context of public relations damage control.
Considering everything the character has been through, it’s sad to see Erin Moriarty herself endured toxic behavior from fans. However, it was touching to see the support she received in the comments. Jack Quaid, who plays her on-screen boyfriend Hughie Campbell, expressed sweet feelings:
I love you Erin. We are all here for you. You are such an amazing and talented force of nature and I consider myself incredibly lucky to have met you. She continues to shine. She leaves the trolls to us. We are here for you.
Chace Crawford, who plays The Deep, also chimed in, saying simply, “I love you!” Black Noir star Nate Mitchell has added a set of heart emojis in support. And Homelander himself, Antony Starr, joined the chorus of praises with a beautiful message:
[I] I support you and what you say here 100%. Well said 😉 Your work on the show is and always has been stellar and you are beautiful inside and out. Keep shining 😉 xo
The creative team on the show certainly did a great job of making Annie a dynamic person that many can relate to. Plus, Erin Moriarty’s performance was solid. Such a character is a blessing for The boys in front of an “oversaturated” superhero supermarket. right now. One can only hope that some people will enjoy his work as did his co-stars and others.
You can watch Erin Moriarity’s work as Starlight airing all three seasons of the superhero show featuring a Amazon Prime subscription . and while waiting The boys Season 4 (which has a lot of questions to answer) review the TV program 2022 to learn more about other small screen offers that are in the works.
