Spoilers ahead for episode 8 of Chicago Mediterranean Season 8, titled “Everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about.”
Chicago Mediterranean is about to lose another key character for the next release of Brian T. What Dr. Ethan Choiin the same season he has already said goodbye Vanessa Yes dylan. His departure is slated for the upcoming midseason finale, and “Everyone’s Fighting a Battle They Know Nothing About” may have dropped some major clues about what might be motivating Ethan to leave the hospital. If so, they could lead to an outing worthy of one of the show’s original stars!
The first hint about Ethan’s future is actually great news for longtime fans who just want to see a happy ending. he is April they are finally getting married, as they found their way to the same page after spending time apart and the his father’s death . In fact, they get married sooner rather than later! According to the invitation, the wedding is scheduled for December 11 at 4 pm in the church of Santa Úrsula.
The mid-season finale is scheduled for Wednesday, December 7, so the wedding isn’t exactly scheduled for what is presumably Brian Tee’s final episode as a series regular. However, I hope the wedding takes place on screen and that it is much better than when Sara Yes Natalia tried to tie the knot again in season 4! Luckily, Ethan isn’t stuck in the same kind of mess Will was in the past, and for my part, I’m optimistic that Medicinal this will allow her to marry more or less peacefully in the mid-season finale.
In fact, hopefully, I may have to change my position that escaping Upstead is the way to ensure a drama-free wedding at One Chicago. Sadly, the entire episode wasn’t joyous or lighthearted for Ethan, but just when the impending wedding establishes that Ethan is ready to move on with his life, the other half of his story in “Everybody’s Fighting has Battle They Know Nothing About ” “. (which also included upton from Chicago Police ) could have given him a vocation that would have motivated him to leave the hospital.
Ethan partnered with Doorman to treat a homeless man on the brink of death after a sleazy doctor performs surgery on him elsewhere for all the wrong reasons, misses what would have been a life-saving diagnosis, and then lets go. When the man arrived at Med, the best case scenario they could manage was to transfer him to a hospice. Ethan was tempted to blame the doctor who performed the procedure on the man, but admitted more than one person had let him down. Etan said:
He will die of one of the most resistant tumors. With early intervention, this was treatable. I shouldn’t kill him. Our system has failed Buddy, and it fails people like him every day, because the people who need us most don’t even make it through our doors until it’s too late. When do we decide that everything is fine? What is stuff like that? It is not possible
While this is a disappointing ending for Ethan, it sounds like the words of a man who will want to make a difference to those disillusioned with the system! Vanessa only left a few weeks ago because he found a calling it meant he had to take his talent elsewhere; Why can’t Ethan do the same?
He and April might even join forces to try and make a difference. I’m not sure what that would mean or how it would explain Ethan’s absence, but Ethan finding a calling and marrying the longtime love of his life would be a great way to say goodbye.
Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a while to see what comes next. The end of autumn Chicago Mediterranean airs Wednesday, December 7 at 8:00 pm ET on NBC.
