It is tonight that the first Eurovision 2025 elimination phase will take place. This Tuesday, May 13, on the stage of St. Jakobshalle de Basel (Switzerland), the representatives of 15 of the 37 countries in the race will occur in the hope of winning their place for the Grand Final on Saturday, May 17. At the end of the night, ten of them will be qualified.
Unlike the grand final, the semifinals are not transmitted in France 2. But spectators can still follow it in several ways.
On television as on the web
The Eurofans can attend the first semifinal through the official France TV station, which will offer this first live night on Tuesday from 9 pm, in France 4 (TNT Channel 14). It will also be possible to follow it on the France TV website. The night will be marked by the comments of Stéphane Bern.
For purists who prefer to see this night of voiceover, an alternative is possible: the official Eurovision of YouTube will offer a live broadcast of the night, in the following link.
If French Eurofans may follow this semifinal, they will not be able to participate in the vote, due to somewhat complex rules.
To your votes … but not yet
On the night of the Grand Final, the Similat is determined by combining the votes of the spectators and those of the international jurors. During the semifinals, only spectators are taken to vote.
France is one of the greatest financial taxpayers in the competition, also called Big 5, which gives it an automatic qualification for the final. The host country, this year, Switzerland, also benefits from this privilege.
If the candidates of these six countries are not subject to the vote of the semifinals, they still work there; three in the first and three in the second. The spectators of these six countries can only participate in the semifinal vote during which their candidate occurs. Now Louane, who represents France with the song MotherIt will happen during the second, which makes the vote closed the French during the first. During each of the three nights, voting for their own country is impossible.
