Warning: spoilers in sight for week 5 of America has talent Season 17 Qualifiers.
The final round of the qualifying performances has officially ended for season 17’s America has talent, while the fifth week saw the eleven finalists coming out of the auditions return to the stage. Among those eleven was none other than Jordan Conley, who became the wild card winner after beating three other candidates . He was the only comedian of the night and had the audience (and judges) nervous at the end of his performance, which included enough Disney references to make any 90s kid happy. , he analyzed those references and revealed that a classic the character sadly failed to cut.
Jordan Conley had three minutes to prove to voters that he made the right choice by choosing to bring him back as a wild card, and had a good laugh as soon as he took the stage. It was when he started talking about the Disney references that the whole thing really took off. He opened the Disney section by saying:
I know I’m not tough. Do you know how hard it is to be a bully when you were born and raised on the streets of Disneyland? You can’t be a bully and have a theme park brain. I can’t mourn Mufasa’s death and rob a liquor store. If I went rogue, I feel my rogue quotes would have references to theme parks.
It started strong with a cry The Lion King and one of the saddest deaths in film history, then started coming up with ideas for his Disney-themed slogans, including Cinderella with mention of a glass slipper, Aladdin with “canaille” and “street rat”, The beauty and the Beast, toy storythen closed with something else Lion King.
As someone who knows the lyrics, I mentioned the days when I was using VHS tapes and a VCR (and now I want to use a Disney + subscription for a blast from the past), I asked Jordan Conley how he put his Disney set together, and he broke it down:
The Lion King is the simplest because it’s like the all-time favorite in my mind. Some I put them on because of other people’s favorites. Toy Story is my second favorite, so I thought, “What’s my favorite?” Come on Lion King, we have to launch Toy Story ‘. Beauty and the Beast was a favorite of others, but I love Beauty and the Beast. And then Aladdin says let’s go now. I have to include Robin Williams in some way.
Mufasa’s death may be infamous, but by who could tell The Lion King Was (1994) more than an excellent choice? He continued to provide references to disney revival era about The beauty and the Beast (1991) and Aladdin (1992), the latter of whom played comedy icon Robin Williams in the role of the voice of the genius .
But with only three minutes to win the audience and hopefully get to the AG endings and a chance at the million-dollar prize and Las Vegas stage show, there’s only a limited number of animated movie references that can fit. Jordan Conley shared the character that he didn’t make it:
If I could find a way to include Mushu, I would. But at some point, I’m digressing. Just throw references there. So I have to limit it to a certain point.
Unfortunately, Mushu mulan (voiced by another comedy legend in Eddie Murphy) was not included (e did not appear in the mulan redo everything ), but Jordan Conley made sure to show some love to the character as he spoke to the press after his performance.
Whether his outfit is enough to take him to the final remains to be seen, but spectators can do their part and vote for him through the official. America has talent application e the NBC.com voting page until voting closes on Wednesday, September 7 at 7:00 am ET. If you missed his set (or just want to relive it), take a look:
Find out if Jordan Conley will advance to the finals with the results episode Wednesday, September 7 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. The competition is tough, with only two of the evening’s eleven acts moving. The episode set Mayyas back as Sofia Vergara’s gold star, and the dance troupe was mine too. original prediction as the act that would win season 17 . The judges received their highest praise for the episode for Mayyas, so it looks likely that they will move forward. But who else?
The pole dance that ultimately won over Simon Cowell is back and Kristy Sellars appears to be in contention for another one who could make it into the Top 2. Dancer Max Ostler received warm praise upon his return. after her emotional hearing , and not many on the evening were criticized by the judges. I’d say Jordan Conley’s odds are pretty good, but you can always expect the unexpected America has talent.
