“If you know where it is, write us!”, Marty McFly is looking for his guitar. The instrument used in the cult scene, no less cult Return to the futureA Gibson ES-345 of Cherry Red has disappeared for 40 years. The Gibson brand and the film team are mobilizing today to try to find it.
In a video posted on June 3 on the YouTube channel Gibson TV, actors Leah Thompson (Lorraine McFly), Christopher Lloyd (Emmett Brown) and, of course, Michael J. Fox (Marty McFly) are launching a research notice.
“We need your help,” says Michael J. Fox. This guitar is what Marty McFly embarks on a wild interpretation of Johnny B GoodeAt the end of the first part of the return to the future, launched in 1985.
“Call us!”
“No one has seen this guitar since 1985, and we have to find it,” adds Harry Waters Jr (Marvin Berry, on stage with Marty McFly during this sequence).
“She has disappeared,” adds Christopher Lloyd, “is somewhere, lost in the continuous space-time, or in someone’s garage,” jokes Michael J. Fox.
But if the tone is light, the search is real. “It is an important work in the history of cinema,” specifies Bob Gale, co -creator back to the future. The cast of the film in fact asks fans to collaborate in this research.
“Ask his friends, his relationships, the members of his group,” he asks Harry Waters Jr. “if he knows where he is or if he knows who holds it, call us,” adds Michael J. Fox.
In 2023, two passionate journalists launched themselves in the search for a bearish guitar lost by Paul McCartney 50 years before. An investigation called Bass Lost project. The operation made it possible to find the instrument, stolen at that time in the back of a truck.
