In love as in music, there are for all tastes. It is not surprising that the Franks, who knew how to weave a sentimental bond with the public as the artists, retain an eclectic program for five days.
On the rap side, “with SDM, Ronisia and Bekar, this is one of the first complete nights, where we know that we will have an average age of 25 years” and for Thursday with “Véronique Sanson, Jean-Louis Aubert or Kyo, we will have another generation of more Zen-Gorros de Zen”, deciphers for AFP Festivetrive.
If the poster leaves everything from the duo that looms to the air to Crazy Philippe Katerine through the cheerful Matthieu Chedid Lamomali band, the novelty of this edition is also behind the scene.
New direction, same spirit
Last year, he turned one page: Gérard Pont, patron of the Franks for 20 years after Jean-Louis Foulquier, ran his hand. He is still president, but transmitted the torch to Tandem Emilie Yakich and Dimitri Gavenc.
Both know the festival in their smallest gears to work since the early 2000s in the organization structure, which has nine employees a year, working for this meeting and a series of cultural actions.
They open a new chapter of an event “very anchored in the territory” and stable assistance, whose financial balance is based on “20% of public aid to support the creation, emergency and 80% of their own resources, between the box office and the associations,” says Mrs. Yakich.
Like others, the festival is no exception to general costs, but capitalizes its aura. “The artists want to go through the Franks”, on their “prestigious side” and their “capital of sympathy,” Pierre Pauly programmer observed in November.
In 2024, the festival had been exhausted with about 150,000 festival attending their 40 candles, with Sting and Jean-Michel Jarre as a gift.
A night dedicated to metal
This “something magical”, according to the co-director, is the configuration of this festival by the ocean, whose main scene invests the Saint-Jean d’Acre Esplanade, near the old port.
But it also unfolds in rooms with variable capacity, perfect for more intimate concerts: Laurent Voulzy, Michel Jonasz, Aldebert, Salif Keïta, or advocating discovery such as Yoa, Styleto and Théodort.
However, the announced presence of actor Jean-Paul Rouve, for a show between literature and music, was canceled, replaced by a concert by Jeanne Cherhal.
The current Music room of the Sirène welcomes “Collective Nights”: Electro on Saturday around Cassius and other members of the Ed Bangger label piloted by Pedro Winter, then metal on Sunday with four groups that include novelists, directly from Hellfest.
The party will also be everywhere in the city, as through walks sung with tourist guide and musical surprises.
50 years of Renaud career
This edition is also distinguished by a tribute to singer Dani, who died in 2022, especially with Alain Chamfort and Emmanuelle Seigner, “La Traversée”, a concert that brings together four French and Canadian artists, but also a creation to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Renaud.
