“Les Foudres”, a new awards ceremony dedicated to French metal will take place on October 9 at Bataclan in Paris, AFP learned of the organizers on Monday, confirming information from Parisine.
“The Bataclan, a legendary place already charge of history, will organize the French ceremony completely dedicated to metal music. An initiative that passionately uses the Bataclan and the Federation of Metal Music,” the organizers said at the site of the event.
International recognition
The ceremony, presented by host Thomas VDB, will award eleven awards, including those of artists, album and revelation of the year, confirmed the organizers to the AFP.
“Taken by emblematic events such as Hellfest and emblematic artists such as Gojira, the French metal scene shines on a global scale,” said Paris Entertainment Company, an Arena Accor Operator, Adidas Arena and Bataclan.
On the program side, three groups have already been announced, Revnoir, grandmother’s ashes and Gravekvlt. Tickets for the night were sold to 33 euros.
A place dedicated to rock and metal
The creation of the ceremony echoes that of the flames, dedicated to rap and their currents, and was born in reaction to the victories of music, regularly described by the lack of representativeness of the hyp -hop sphere in his list. Its first edition took place in 2023.
“We bought the room in 2021 and reposition it in rock and metal,” recalls Arnaud Millard, director of Bataclan, quoted by Le Parisien. “When we recovered it, there were between 80 and 85 concerts (rock/metal) per year, we are between 105 and 110 this year and we will go up to 120 next season.”
The Bataclan organized a concert on November 13, 2015, a concert from the Eagles of Death Metal group. During tonight, 90 spectators in the concert hall were killed by three jihadists, while two other commands sowed death in other parts of Paris and its surroundings. In total, 130 people were killed in a few hours in the most fatal attacks ever committed in France.
