Contacts, fiscal codes and addresses flew in nature. Or rather stolen. The Venice Film Festival, whose 82nd edition takes place from August 27 to September 9, 2025, confirmed that he was the victim of a cyber attack that compromised the personal data of the participants accredited for this year’s event, reveals the Hollywood reporter on August 6.
In a notification sent to the people in question, the organizers of the Mostra declared that the attack occurred on July 7 when people arrived and copied documents stored on the festival servers. Consequence: Data such as names, email addresses, telephone numbers, tax codes and postal addresses have been stolen.
Catering operations
The festival, transmitted by The Hollywood Reporter, said that “his computer team had quickly intervened, isolating and ensuring the affected systems.” And to specify: “The competent authorities were immediately informed and catering operations were launched.”
This is not the first time that a cyber attack is aimed at a renowned European festival. In 2022, the online ticket system of the Cannes Film Festival had been flooded by “Bots”, in the words of the organizers of the event.
