Friends? The second season of sweet magnolias premiered on Feb. 4, and for a long time, we didn’t have concrete information about what storylines will be explored in season three. Netflix subscriptions to have Lots of questions about how the reveals from the previous season will carry over into the next batch of episodes, also wanting to know how all the relationships at the center of the story will leave after some explosive moments in the sweet magnolias second season finale . Now we finally have some solid details on Season 3 and I need to get the hit series back ASAP!
What do we know about the story of Sweet Magnolias season 3?
Though we know the small town romance has been renewed for another season and official broadcast instagram confirmed that filming had wrapped with a message on October 21, we still don’t know how things will go when the series returns to the small screen. But! Star Justin Bruening (who recently reunited with his Grey’s Anatomy wife, Sarah Drew for christmas movie 2022 ) is now open at people on what his Cal Maddox will be up against after his shocking Season 3 finale, saying:
My character is just dealing with the aftermath of what he did last year and how it ended, it all affected someone. He takes a step back, which takes leaps and bounds in his relationships with not just Maddie, but everyone. So I guess he’s really starting to become a member of Serenity in that sense. It is funny.
I know a lot has happened from early February to now, but if you’re completely unaware of his comment about Cal punching someone, well, you forgot a pretty telling moment in the last episode of the previous season. When Cal and Maddie went to a great fundraiser, he spoke briefly with a fan who seemed a little… excited. Cal handled the situation very well, but a few days later the same man showed up at Sullivan’s house and was shooting the entire scene. Things went from bad to worse when the recently fired high school baseball coach let his anger boil over, punched the man, and he ended up in the custody of two good Serenity cops.
Listen, I love Cal, you love Cal…everyone loves Cal and his muscles (What? Who She said That?!), but I can’t wait to see how it turns out for him in Season 3 after he basically assaults someone (even though that someone deserved it). To some extent, once he got to town, he kind of became a golden boy. He not only is he a former professional baseball player, but he was an eligible new gentleman in town.
Maddie was going through a huge breakup with Bill, so Cal seemed like a special blessing to her. However, there were some hints that he wasn’t as perfect as he seemed, and it was revealed in the Season 2 finale by Average and Prosperity (and much hated) Mary Vaughn that Cal had a hidden history with significant anger management issues, resulting in the man being fired from his job.
Now, with him publicly outraged to the point of punching someone in front of several citizens, well, I think we can all see that he will definitely “step back” and face the consequences of that. The little locals gossip like crazy when people make big mistakes, which definitely makes you wonder how badly they will treat you when the new season kicks off. But it looks like Cal will get over what he did in the eyes of his and (especially) Maddie’s neighbors.
I’m really going to need to see how this plays out ASAP as I have a lot of questions about the multiple rapid changes Cal has already gone through! For example, now that you are unemployed, how do you make a living? He can’t just walk around shirtless and drenched all day fixing leaky sinks… Or they can the? we will know when sweet magnolias returns for season 3 until then, you can watch seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix.
