Only sixty people only attend the funeral of the Italian fashion giant, this Monday, September 8 in Rivalta, a small medieval town south of Milan. A desire for Giorgio Armani himself, who wanted a strictly private funeral, according to the local newspaper Libertà. The ceremony will take place from 3.30 pm local time.
They will take place in the small church of San Martino, located in the medieval village of Rivalta, located in Val Trebbia, where the stylist spent part of his childhood, according to the Association of the Castles of the Duchy of Parma, Plaisance and Pontremoli.
The surroundings will be completed “for security reasons and to guarantee the confidentiality of the funeral,” added in a press release published on his Facebook page.
His hometown
Giorgio Armani regularly went to this small town located a few kilometers from Piacenza, a city where the fashion designer was born in 1934.
He had a significant habits at the “L’Anta Locanda del Falco” restaurant in Rivalta. Its owner, Sabrina, paid tribute to an Instagram publication to an “extraordinary beauty creator”, remembering the designer’s taste for “Tortelli Piacentini”, a specialty of Piacenza pasta.
The Rivalta cemetery already houses the funeral of the parents, María and Ugo, as well as the brother, Sergio, by Giorgio Armani, specifies the Association of Castles of the Duchy of Parma, Plaisance and Pontremoli in their press release.
It is at his side, in the family chapel, that the stylist will rest, according to several Italian media, without anyone knowing at this stage if he has chosen to be buried or cremated.
A day of grieving
The Giorgio Armani group told AFP that its stores would close on Monday from 3 pm to the end of the day, as a grieving sign.
The mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, also announced a day of mourning in the Italian economic capital on Monday, as well as the mayor of Piacenza, Katia Tarasconi.
On Saturday and Sunday, around 15,000 people paid a final tribute to the designer in the burning chapel open to the public in Armani Theater in Milan, a spokesman for the Giorgio Armani group in AFP.
Among them were personalities such as former Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, Ludovico Einaudi composer, the president of Napoli FC Aurelio de Laurentiis or tennis players Fabio Fognini and Flavia Pennetta.
