When you think of Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds and Philadelphia is always sunny genius Rob McElhenney reunited for a new TV show, presumably sparking visions of hot jokes, more than a few cringe-worthy moments and a a lot of humor for the body . But that’s not at all what is shown in the first trailer for his upcoming FX series. welcome to wrexham, which focuses on the duo’s journey following the joint purchase of a British football club. On the contrary, this project is imbued with a lot of heart and good humor … and some references to Deadpool, of course.
As seen in the trailer above, welcome to wrexham it’s kind of a Cinderella story, in that it’s a loser story, not about Ryan Reynolds trying to find the owner of glass soccer shoes. This is a small working-class town where hopes and dreams are linked to the local football team, for better or for worse. And that’s usually worse, as the team is known to struggle sometimes during its seasons. But does the team really just need a few American thugs who break the party with a total lack of experience? Maybe yes, maybe yes.
If anyone thought this project was going to be more of a lighthearted joke for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, it certainly isn’t. While the trailer has some laughs, it makes it clear that this was a great passion project for the duo. Although, as they said in the hilarious exchange below, they had no tangible connection with the club itself.
- Fan: What was the connection between you and Wrexham Football Club?
- Rob: We didn’t have any direct connections. It was just a feeling.
- Fan: What my dad and I thought was because Wrexham is red and Deadpool is red …
- Ryan: That’s the real reason, I’m sorry.
I’m sure decisions have been made in the world of sports based on things that are weaker than “Deadpool and Wrexham sharing a main color”. And in any case, this boy and his father probably weren’t the only Wrexham viewers excited about the team’s tangential bond with the Mercenary with the Mouth, as evidenced by the cosplay fan below.
Even knowing he was going to be disappointed, I couldn’t block the feeling that the weather is always goodCharlie would appear in the background in his signature Green Man suit. It didn’t happen, of course, perhaps because it didn’t a depraved act the gang is used to . Deadpool is expected to fully join this cast someday.
However, there is nothing depraved about the trailer, which feels like a family sports movie. love you the sandbox, but with billionaires. But the cynicism often associated with celebrity brand ownership is also put aside here, as the McElhenney and Reynolds purchase was more of a passion project than anything else based on financial gain. Which might seem obvious, given that few billionaires claim that buying tier five football teams was the ticket to the top.
But even beyond his personal enthusiasm for the Red Dragons, I have to think a good part of his welcome to wrexhamThe draw will see players and citizens become more passionate as collective trust grows with the involvement of Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds. Assuming all of this doesn’t blow up in everyone’s face, of course, but I don’t foresee much pain in the show’s future.
Look at the poster welcome to wrexhamwhich amusingly changes the names of its two stars to match the nickname of the city.
While the fans wait the long gestation Dead pool 3 and the third season of the popular Apple TV + series mythical mission, welcome to wrexham will debut in special effects on Wednesday, August 24 at 10pm, and the episodes will also be available to anyone with a Hulu subscription.
