Liev Schreiber, Jennifer Jason Leigh … 1,200 personalities denounce the boycott of Israeli cinematographic institutions

1,200 personalities of the world of cinema denounces in an open letter and call the boycott of Israeli cinematographic institutions due to the war in Gaza.

Liv Schreiber comedians, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jerry O’Connell are among the 1,200 signers of an open letter that denounces a call to the boycott of Israeli film institutions due to the war in Gaza, signed by 1,500 actors, directors and international film professionals on September 8.

Lisa Edelstein, Rebecca de Mainay, Mayim Bialik, Debra Messing or Sharon Osbourne also signed this letter published Thursday at the site of the creative community of the NGO for Peace, in response to this call to Boicot, described as “attempt to silence Jewish stories and ostracted Israeli filmmakers.”

“We know the power of cinema. We know the power of stories. That is why we cannot remain silent when a story becomes a weapon, when lies are presented as truths and when artists are wrong to amplify the anti -Semitic propaganda,” they still write.

In a letter published in The guardian, On September 8, the 1,500 signers of the Boicot call, including Olivia Colman, Javier Bardem and Mark Ruffalo, announced to stop any collaboration with the Israeli film institutions “involved in the” Gazo genocide.

“At this time in the crisis, when many of our governments authorize butcher shop in Gaza, we must do everything in our power to respond to this complicity,” they said.

Several letters signed by film, music or literature personalities have been published from the unprecedented attack in Hamas on October 7, 2023 in Israel and the Israeli devastating offensive launched in Gaza in response.
