Half a century sold between its first and second cover of Time. Bruce Springsteen again returns to the main page of the famous American Weekly. This time, not for his music, but for his incendiary statements against Donald Trump and his administration.
In this long interview awarded in September 2025, the musician believes that “many people believed in their lies” and denounces the fact that the US president “does not care about the forgotten of anyone but himself and the billionaires who remained behind him on the day of the inauguration.”
“If I have to remain faithful to whom I tried to be … I can’t give these guys a free pass,” he said, adding to Trump and the members of his government.
With regard to the personal attacks of the Head of State against him, Bruce Springsteen is categorical: “I don’t care what I think of me … He is the living personification of what was created in amendment 25 and the accusation. If Congress had courage, the garbage cans of history would be relegated.”
A conflict that intensifies
The hostility between the two men is not new. Bruce Springsteen had already opposed in 2016 the use of Donald Trump of his song Born in the United States During his political meetings, preferring to openly support Hillary Clinton instead of initiating legal procedures.
But it was since 2018, during his residence in Broadway, that the singer began to criticize Donald Trump more directly. The singer, who has always given the floor to the populations not heard and disinherited, described Trump as a “jerk”, “tragedy for our democracy” or “tortoncio.”
The antagonism was particularly crystallized in May 2025, during the concert to open its European tour in Manchester, where Springsteen delivered three scathing speeches aimed at Donald Trump and his “incompetence.” These criticisms against the “corrupt” government have won the artist of abundant insults of the US president.
The exchange of blows between the two men has intensified since the re -election of the American billionaire. The president called the musician “Stupid as a stone” that published a video that made fun of him. Donald Trump also called Bruce Springsteen a “dry rocker” that should “close it.”
But the artist does not limit his criticisms in the Republican camp. Bruce Springsteen criticizes Democrats as ineffective in their fight against President Trump, emphasizing that the problem lies both in “the language they use” and in “the way they try to reach people.”
“We desperately need an effective alternative party,” he said, asking the Democratic Party to “find someone who can go to the majority of the nation.”
