The star dancer and choreographer Patrice Bart, who spent more than half a century inside the National Opera of Paris, died at age 80.

Born in 1945, Patrice Bart entered the ONP dance school in 1957, at the age of 12. He is involved in Ballet’s body with only 14 years, continuing his studies in parallel. He crossed all the ranks and became a star dancer in 1972, at age 24.

“It is magnificent because it is the culmination of what we dream of with all its youth and, at the same time, it is the beginning of another life,” AFP said in 2011, when he left the institution.

In 1991, he returned with his counterpart Eugène Polyakov the “Giselle” ballet, according to the original choreography. “Passionate, demanding, well alive and full of humor, he wore ballet and teams thanks to his tireless energy,” greets the ONP. Commander of the Arts and Letters, of the National Order of Merit and the Knight of the Legion of Honor, also received the Nijinski Award in 1974.
