The bassist and co-founder of American nu metal group Limp Bizkit, Sam Rivers, has died at the age of 48, the group announced Saturday night in a tribute post on Instagram.
“Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heartbeat,” singer Fred Durst, guitarist Wes Borland, drummer John Otto and DJ Lethal (turntable) wrote in a post, which did not specify the cause of Sam Rivers’ death.
More than 45 million albums sold
He “wasn’t just our bassist, he was pure magic… From the first note we played together, Sam brought a light and a rhythm that could never have been replaced. His talent was natural, his presence unforgettable, his heart as big as that,” the musicians add. “Your music never stops,” they wrote, paying tribute to a “true legend of legends.”
Limp Bizkit, a nu metal band – pronounced “new” in English – with rap accents, created in 1994 by Sam Rivers and Fred Durst, released their first album Three dollar bill, y’all in 1997.
The third work, chocolate starfish and hot dog flavored waterIt had obtained a gold record for its sales in France (100,000 copies). Sam Rivers, who left the group in 2015, returned in 2018, participating in the group’s last album. it still sucks (2021).
The group Limp Bizkit has sold more than 45 million records worldwide in 2024.
