For the first time in the Miss France pageant, contestants can wear a tattoo. Miss Languedoc has one, discreetly, on her wrist. Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Agathe Cauet, wears hers in her right groin.
It is an arch of flowers that evokes the memory of an operation. “I had a tumor at the age of 17, bordering on 9 kilos. Today I have one less ovary. This tattoo represents it”, this is how the 23-year-old girl tells TV Magazine.
“All Bodies Are Beautiful”
Agathe Cauet, now a nurse, also bears a scar at the level of her navel, the stigma of her operation.
“At first I had a hard time accepting it. But participating in Miss France helps me feel better. All bodies are beautiful despite their past history, ”she explains again.
It was her hospitalization, at the age of 17, that inspired her vocation for the nursing profession that she practices today.
“The fact of having been hospitalized, of having known the hospital environment, of discovering the nursing profession, made me want to do the same for others, feel useful for others,” she said, thus explaining on the set of BFM Lille the last October.
This is the first time in the contest’s history that candidates can get tattooed. It is thanks to the relaxation of the rules introduced by Alexia Laroche-Joubert that these profiles can compete.
The president of the Miss France company, who dusted off the competition, thus eliminated the criteria of age and marital status. Therefore, candidates can, in theory, be over the age of 25, be married, and have a family. The competition is also open to transgender women.
