Star Trek: Lower Decks Season three premiered to Paramount+ subscribers earlier this year and among the highlights was episode six, “Hear All, Trust Nothing,” a tribute to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Not only did he do it lower decks characters visit the titular space station, met two gods Deep Space NineThe main characters of Armin Shimerman’s Quark and Nana Visitor’s Kira Nerys. Having recently had the opportunity to speak with Cirroc Lofton, another Deep Space Nine star, I asked for his opinion on “Listen to All, Trust Nothing” and he was quick to share it, including a key way this lower decks The episode made Fred Tatasciore’s Shax shine.
Cirroc Lofton played Jake Sisko, son of Avery Brooks’ Benjamin Sisko, for the duration of Star Trek: Deep Space Nineit’s managed and these days it keeps its feet firmly planted in the franchise by co-hosting the seventh rule with Ryan Husk. The podcast ends its run by passing through Deep Space Nineepisodes of and soon we’ll dive into it Star Trek: The Next Generationwith Denise Cosby, who played Tasha Yar, joining Lofton and Husk in all of her character’s appearances in season one. lower decks for the way he paid tribute to Deep Space Ninesaid:
The DS9 episode was a really good tribute to the work we’ve done on the show, and I love seeing Armin play Quark and I love seeing Nana bring Colonel Kira back… I thought the ship was beautiful on the outside. If I could ask Mike McMahan for one memory, it would probably be a cel from that animated episode of Deep Space Nine, one of those animated cels. But yeah, I think they’ve done a fantastic job paying homage to some really great characters. It is a wonderful thing.
It was the first time star Trek fans had seen Quark and Kira Nerys on the small screen ever since Star Trek: Deep Space Nine concluded in 1999, and Cirroc Lofton was just not happy with the way they had been used lower decks, also praised the design of the space station. Fingers crossed, he gets one of these cells from Trek’s iconic location. Lofton then focused on Nerys’ dynamic with Shaxs, Cerrito’s head of security who was revealed in “Hear All, Trust Nothing” to have served alongside Nerys in the Bajoran Resistance. Lofton explained:
One of the things I recently mentioned to a friend of mine in a chat was seeing Kira’s character play sort of a friend to Shax’s character in this episode, which lent some sort of credibility and legitimacy to Shax’s Bajoran roots. I don’t think I could have. obtained from any other type of narrative. So the fact that Kira was in the trenches with him and they fought in the resistance together and she confirms that she is friends with her has made me more confident in her claims about her Bajoran ancestry. So it’s kind of weird how she played on my heart and how she plucked those strings.
Kira Nerys and Shaxs are among the star Trek few prominent Bajoran characters in the franchise, so having them team up in “Hear All, Trust Nothing” and have them try to outdo each other to find out who owed the most to each other was a smart move from a perspective. lower decks writers Finally, another remarkable aspect of the Deep Space Nine The tribute episode was that several characters wore clothing similar to what Jake Sisko was wearing at the time, and Cirroc Lofton appreciated that, saying:
And since some items in my wardrobe and I have finally caught on, I’m happy to know that my style has not only evolved over time, but has spread to all quadrants and that someone loves these asymmetrical and multicolored shirts. [laughs]. Definitely!
Hey, just like art, fashion is subjective, but it’s great to see that so many people have embraced Jake Sisko’s unique style. Star Trek: Lower Decks launched. More importantly, with lower decks to be sunk Deep Space Nine waters, perhaps this could pave the way for other cast members of this one star Trek show to reprise their roles (opens in a new tab).
