2022 has seen the deaths of too many people associated with the entertainment industry and now another star has died. Brad William Henke, known for his roles in shows like Orange is the new black Yes Support as well as a season in the NFL, he died. The actor was 56 at the time of his death.
Brad William Henke (born 1966) died in his sleep on Tuesday, although TMZ reports that the cause of death as of this writing has not been released. The late actor’s manager, Matt DelPiano, didn’t share any further details, but did share a touching message with the outlet, saying:
Brad was an incredibly kind man with a cheerful energy. A very talented actor, he loved being a part of this community…and we love him too. Our thoughts are with his wife and family.
Although Henke has probably been most recognized in recent years for his television and film roles, he rose to prominence when the New York Giants drafted him to the NFL in 1989 after playing college football at the University of Arizona as a defensive lineman . . . Variety reports that he played in Super Bowl XXIV for the Denver Broncos against the San Francisco 49ers and remained in the NFL until 1994, when injuries forced his retirement. He then transitioned into acting, with his first credit (via IMDb) as a 1996 film wrong sirdirected by Ellen DeGeneres and Bill Pullman.
While he would continue to appear in films throughout his career after transitioning into acting, he has been more prolific in television, most recently appearing in an episode of Law and order: SVU aired in early 2022. His television credits date back to 1996, with eventual appearances in various episodes of shows such as Nash bridges, Nikki, go to california, Judging Amy, right, October road, Lost, Justified, The bridge, sneaky fart, Huntingand of course Orange is the new black Yes Support. After righthe reunited with Michael C. Hall on the film The problem of happiness.
He has also appeared in single episodes of shows such as emergencies, Mac Gyverand (very memorable) Criminal minds, just to name a few. Of his numerous roles, Brad William Henke is probably best known for playing Correctional Officer Desi Piscatella at Litchfield Penitentiary in the Netflix movie. Orange is the new black. Henke played the role for over 20 episodes in seasons 4 and 5. Piscatella was part of one of the show’s more controversial twists in season 4 before returning for season 5. Orange is the new black is widely regarded as one of Netflix’s best original TV shows.
Brad William Henke has been sporadically active on social media, with his own most recent tweet in November hinting that he was looking into making his own TV series. Our thoughts here at 24 News Bulletin are with Henke’s family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time.
