Bong Joon Ho will be the subject of a documentary on Netflix. Directed by Lee Hyuk Rae, Yellow Door: Searching for Director Bong’s Unreleased Short Filmwill return to the story of the first unpublished short film by the famous South Korean filmmaker Looking for paradise.
Directed by Bong Joon-ho during his studies, Looking for paradise, is a short film of 22 minutes. In 1992, it was screened in front of a dozen members of the Yellow Door Korean film club and has never been shown since.
“While many believe director Bong’s first film was the 1994 short ‘White Man,’ his true first film is actually this short filmed using stop-motion techniques,” Netflix said in a statement.
A movie and a series in preparation
In addition to telling the story of how the film was made, this Netflix documentary will also highlight the early successes of the multi-award winning director to whom we owe murder memories, okja Where Parasiteand will tell the story of the rise of young moviegoers in South Korea.
