What dance with the stars gearing up to make its grand and historic move to ABC’s Disney + for its next season, the series will be without two top-tier professional dancers. Lindsay Arnold and Sharna Burgess have confirmed they will not be returning for season 31, but their explanations are entirely reasonable.
Rumors have been circulating for several months about the departure of one or two professionals. ETAP before the next season, but there were no confirmed names or confirmations if this were true. Sharna Burgess, who attended ETAP from season 16 and won Mirrorball in season 27, she announced that she wasn’t going to go pro again and the reason isn’t that surprising: she’s a new mom. Burgess said (via dwtsreport on Instagram):
I am 100% in my body, I feel fit, I feel strong, I am so ready to dance. I’m about to go to the gym right now. Let’s talk about what it means and how I can be part of it. [DWTS] but she wasn’t ready to spend at least 10 hours a day away from Zane. And I say 10 hours because it’s not just the time spent in the room. It’s time to travel, it’s time to prepare, it’s time for hairstyles and makeup. Sundays and Mondays are full days. I am a full time nursing mom, and beyond, I am so in love with being a mom.
Burgess welcomed a baby boy with Brian Austin Green over the summer, so it makes sense that she wants to focus on her baby and spend time with him. And they’re not the only ones spending time with the baby. Green’s ex Megan Fox was recently engaged to the little boy, and Burgess shared the actress’s sweet comments about her son, who obviously doesn’t cry that often. No wonder the dancer wants to spend every moment with him.
It should be noted that this isn’t the first time since season 16 that Sharna Burgess has had to sneak out one season. She actually didn’t participate in season 28 due to her belonging to the Australian version of ETAP as a judge. Y seems to be trying her best to stay on the show somehow, so let’s keep our fingers crossed for something like this to happen.
Meanwhile, shortly after Sharna Burgess’s video, Lindsay Arnold created an Instagram post explaining a similar situation. appearing ETAP As a professional dancer who started in season 16 before being promoted to professional partner in season 21 and winner in season 25, the mother of one explained that while she loves being on the show, family is her top priority:
You all know that family is the most important thing to me and doing what’s best for my daughter will always be at the top of my list! As many of you know, my family and I live in UT and to do DWTS I have to move to Los Angeles with my daughter Sage and leave my husband Sam who works full time here in Utah. Logistically, there are a LOT of implications for this to happen and there are a lot of sacrifices to be made that sadly didn’t feel right this time around.
Lindsay Arnold also wants to focus on her family, as moving in and leaving someone behind has led her to appear this season of ETAP too much for her. Though she’s completely out of the picture next season, Arnold has also promised this won’t be the last time fans of her will see her in the dance show:
We ran out of every option we could think of to make it work, but in the end, none of the options felt right in my heart or seemed like the right thing for our lives right now. We are also looking to expand our family and this in itself is a complicated logistical problem, as I am sure many of you will understand. That said, it’s very important to me that you understand that none of this has to do with my love for the show because it will NEVER change and that doesn’t even mean it’s the end for me and DWTS.
Sharna Burgess and Lindsay Arnold have left this season to focus on their little ones and their families, which is entirely understandable, as it’s also clear that the show means a lot to them. While it’s unclear whether they will both return as professional dancers in the future, it should be interesting to see how Burgess could fit into any title next season.
There will be many changes for season 31’s ETAP in addition to the Disney + and Burgess and Arnold announcements. cool prince of bel air Veteran Alfonso Ribeiro will be co-guest with Tyra Banks for the new season. Season 31 of dance with the stars airs September 19 on Disney + with a subscription!
