Marvel Studios offered an embarrassment for the richness of upcoming movies and TV shows when they met their fans Saturday night in Hall H of San Diego Comic-Con. The future has become clearer regarding The stories we can expect in Marvel Phase 5 . We also know quite a bit about Marvel’s Phase 6, including the titles of the next two Avengers movies . The heads turned to the new details that it was only when the dust settled that we realized Deadpool had been left out. Which one to give?
None of us are trying to complain, after all the announcements that came in on Saturday. But fans of Ryan Reynolds’ motor-mouthed mercenary were probably hoping to find out more the confirmed Dead pool 3 . Deadpool is one of the characters coming to the MCU after Disney acquired 20th Century and all of its properties . And while the movement was incredibly slow in the third Deadpool movie, the news that frequent Reynolds collaborator Shawn Levy was on board to direct the sequel made most of us believe that its release date could be staggered.
If you look at what has been announced, only one of the Fox properties has been confirmed as part of Marvel’s Phase 5 and 6, and this is Fantastic Four. It makes some sense, because at least we met a version of Reed Richards (played by John Krasinski) in the latter Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness. This implies that versions of the Fantastic Four exist in our universes, on other Earths. So it will be interesting to see how Marvel handles the team’s origins, which have been extensively documented on screen, and don’t really need to be repeated (the way spiderman: homecoming skipped beats in MCU Peter Parker history).
So, what do you think? Dead pool 3? Since Fox’s connections in the MCU are limited, I assume Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is salvaging those ties, including the possible introduction of the X-Men, for the D23 celebration in September. We know that the term “mutation” made a lot of noise when it was dropped in the last episode of Mrs. Wonder . And when Kevin Feige presented the properties slide for Phase 6, there were a lot of gaps present around Fantastic Four and the two Avengers movies that will conclude the multiverse saga. Can we pencil? Dead pool 3 in one of these slots? It would be great to see former Fox characters, who have always been Marvel characters, take control of the MCU and lead the Avengers movies that will conclude the saga. And a third Deadpool movie would have time to develop better and see where it fits into the overall narrative.
