Back in Riley’s head. Seven years after the premiere of the animated film Vice versaPixar Studios announced on Friday the release of a second installment for the summer of 2024. As reported variety, the script will be carried out by Meg LeFauve, co-writer of the first film, and American comedian Amy Poehler will return to lend her voice to Joy. On the other hand, director Pete Docter will leave the controls to Kelsey Mann.
Released in 2015, Vice versa embodies the conflicting emotions of Riley, an 11-year-old girl struggling to adjust to her new school. Inside the girl’s head there is a headquarters where five little characters are active, each one responsible for a feeling: Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. Coexistence is difficult, while Riley enters precisely the age when everything gets complicated. Critical and commercial success Vice versa it won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film in 2016.
From childhood to adolescence
vice versa 2 will explore the same concept, with a twist: this time, Riley will have become a teenager. New emotions will join the dance, and we imagine the work of the latter even more difficult. “I read the script and it’s amazing,” promised Amy Poehler.
The announcement of this sequel took place during the latest edition of the D23 Expo, a biannual convention organized by Disney fans during which the studio reveals many exclusives.
This new vintage, which takes place throughout the weekend in Anaheim, California, has also revealed the trailers for the live-action of The little Mermaid and aftermath of Once Upon a time Y Hocus Pocus. The development of a prequel Lion Kingentitled mufasawas also announced.
