It’s a crazy time to be a DC fan. The cinematic universe is currently evolving, with new CEOs Peter Safran and James Gunn making sweeping changes to create their vision for the franchise’s more cohesive future. That includes leaving out Henry Cavill as Superman and excluding Black Adam from (at least) the upcoming film series. After these changes, Shazam! Star Zachary Levi has responded to rumors about his possible departure from the character.
While James Gunn and Peter Safran’s plans for the DCEU are being kept under wraps, it has been made clear which characters/concepts they aren’t interested in. Some viewers have expressed concern over the fate of Zachary Levi as Shazam, leading him to take Chirping in response. as she said,

Well now you have it. While there are countless questions surrounding the future of the DCEU right now, it seems Zachary Levi feels secure in his future as the superhero Shazam. He at least he’s a hero viewers needn’t worry about, especially since David F. Sandberg’s delayed sequel is just months away from release.
Zachary Levi clarified his DCEU fate on his personal Twitter account, and it’s likely to go viral in no time. Right now, viewers’ heads are collectively spinning, thanks to the daily updates and drama coming from the studio. And while we’ve seen some shocking news about Wonder Woman and Superman, it seems like Shazam might be in the right place. Though with Black Adam also on the bench, it’s unclear when we might finally see him take on his nemesis.
As mentioned above, the DC franchise recently got new leadership in the form of Peter Safran and James Gunn. The latter director has certainly made waves in the shared universe with the suicide squad and its television spin-off Lollipop. And it looks like the two are doing everything in their power to finally make the DCEU a cohesive universe with serialized storytelling. And they’re making bold changes to make it happen.
the Shazam! The sequel is the first DC movie to hit theaters this new year, followed by the flash Yes blue beetle. It should be fascinating to see where the DCEU goes from here, with projects coming from the new direction. Will Zachary Levi’s hero finally get a chance to meet other heroes? It’s unclear, but DC’s various film franchises have certainly largely operated on their own in the years since Justice League hit theaters.
