Star Trek: DiscoveryThe season four finale featured some great moments for the main characters and apparently influenced the story of season five. This may seem strange to some fans since Season 5 looks action packed. Yes unlike anything we have seen up to the date of the series. Doug Jones recently confirmed that there is a connective tissue between the two seasons and explained how season 4 affected the story.
I had the honor of speaking with Doug Jones about it Star Trek: Discovery 4physical press release and speaking with the actor from the previous season, we discussed season 5 and how the first look seemed to show an action-packed season. I asked him if those who listen to his Paramount+ Subscriptions should expect a season that stands out from the previous ones and learns the following:
Well yes, I think every season has been different from the last of our show. I think one thing we can say is that change is a constant in Star Trek: Discovery. Season 5 is no different than that. It will involve a new adventure and it involves change. I think when you see a trailer too they will show the action sequences. So, it feels like it’s just, you know, bam bam, slam slam, but you know there’s still a sense of family among the crew and some really emotional moments between the characters. So it will all be there. But our adventure changes from year to year.
Doug Jones said that a lot Star Trek: Discovery fans are no doubt interested if they wait for season 5. Perhaps the biggest reveal is that even though the trailer for season 5 is action-packed, the action may not move too quickly into the current season that the trailer could entail. Fans feared the show was straying too far from its roots to deliver something new that should breathe easy, as Jones seemed reassuring that the bones of what he does Discovery the big ones are still there.
Season 5 of Star Trek: Discovery sounds ambitious and sounds so too according to its synopsis. We learned that Michael Burnham and crew will be traveling in search of an ancient power that others in the galaxy are also pursuing. It feels like a race between different parties to get this big and powerful item unlike anything the series has done before.
That said, Doug Jones explained to Gossipify that the fourth season of Star Trek: Discovery set up season 5 in style. The actor explained that the adventure with the DMA and the story of contact with Species 10-C proved to be the key to the series that made Season 5 possible:
I think what Season 4 established for us is that anything is possible. You know, when you’re dealing with 10-C, which is this huge entity outside of the galaxy somewhere, you know, where we got to the edge of the galaxy and we crossed over to meet and confront them, that was something that wasn’t never been done before. I think we’ve established that ‘Hey, we can do a lot of things and really anything is possible.’ So I think in Season 5 the problem that we’re looking for in the galaxy and maybe doing something about that is that it looks big. He even looks bigger than all of us, which is great for this show. Reflecting that when there is something bigger than us, there are ways to negotiate, make peace and deal with it. And I think Season 5 does a great job of doing that.
If “everything is possible” is the main conclusion of Star Trek: Discovery From season 4 to season 5, you have to wonder what lies ahead. Personally, I just hope more updates on Saru and President T’Rina , as they quickly became the franchise’s new “it” couple. I can’t wait to see what surprises this season has in store, and what surprises might not have been revealed in the first trailer.
