While various actors have played Batman’s love interest/enemy Catwoman for decades, many will still say that Michelle Pfeiffer is their favorite version. The Oscar-nominated actress made her mark when she brought the cat-loving DC villain to the big screen in 1992. Batman returns. While audiences couldn’t imagine another actor playing the character, Pfeiffer revealed that landing the role was a fluke after becoming a fan of Catwoman.
Even three decades after playing DC’s femme fatale, the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania The star is still being asked about her memorable snap. While promoting the next The ant man sequel, Hollywood’s A-lister was interviewed The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Though she landed major roles throughout her illustrious career, Pfeiffer admitted to getting stage fright and she either backed out or was fired from the roles she took on. However, there was one exception, as she admitted to being obsessed with the iconic DC character. Even though she almost didn’t get the part Batman returns as the Hollywood star explained, she wasn’t the first choice for the role:
No I did not. Because I’ve been obsessed with Catwoman since I was little. And actually, someone else was chosen before me: Anette Bening, who is wonderful. And then she got pregnant, incredible. And then I got the part!
Well now you have it. Annette Bening’s pregnancy made Pfeiffer’s dream come true. It would be nice to know if that was Tim Burton’s take on the character or if he grew up reading Batman comics and watching Eartha Kitt and Julie Newmar’s portrayals of Catwoman in the 1960s live-action series. While Bening is an incredible actor, the anthill 3 The star put in a performance that Batman fans young and old still talk about today. If the Oscar nominee hadn’t played the cat, viewers would never have had moments like the viral one-shot video cracking the whip. His portrayal in the superhero film thrilled fans, as did co-star Michael Keaton, who had nothing but good things to say. Despite several actors, including Halle Berry and Zoë Kravitz, playing the iconic anti-hero, many fans still cite Pfeiffer as the ultimate Catwoman.
As memorable as her portrayal of Catwoman was, DC Studios hasn’t asked the Hollywood icon to reprise her role. She could be seen as a missed opportunity with Keaton putting his hood back on in the long delay the flash and deleted it bad girl. Seeing Keaton and Pfeiffer together on screen would be a treat Batman returns Fan. The 64-year-old actress is expected to return for another push even though she hasn’t been asked to return. Maybe under James Gunn, she could play Selina Kyle again if that’s part of her plans for DC’s new roster.
While Michelle Pfeiffer remains open to another DC appearance, she’s currently part of the Marvel team as she gears up Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaine which is expected to hit theaters February 17, based on the 2023 movie schedule.
