Jacques Dutronc “in great shape” despite the announcement of the end of his tour, according to his management

Thomas Dutronc, the singer’s son, announced on Thursday the end of their joint tour. The duo teams provide details this Friday.

Jacques Dutronc, “in top form”, had long planned to stop the tour with his son at the end of December, the duo’s management said on Friday, after statements by Thomas that left doubts about his father’s condition.

“He stops because my father prefers to stop now (…) And then, he will turn 80 (in April). He is worried about not holding on (…) We have the impression, we, of stopping in the middle of the tour”, Thomas Dutronc had declared on RTL on Thursday, the day after a last concert of the “Dutronc & Dutronc” tour at the Accor Arena .

“It was always planned (that the tour) would end on December 21, 2022 in Bercy (former name of the Accor Arena, editor’s note),” explains Vincent Carpentier, manager of the two artists, in a press release on Friday. He specifies, however, that “hoping to extend this father-son tour that has been very successful and because theaters book well in advance, Lagardère and Fimalac, co-producers, had considered an extension in 2023”.

The 2023 concerts marked with the mention “cancelled”

“What Jacques did not want and never validated, estimating at almost 80 years, and still in great shape, having fulfilled his mission by offering his audience with great joy 38 concerts throughout France”, develops Vincent Carpentier. On some concert ticket sales sites, such as Fnac, we can still see this Friday an extension of the tour with dates until February 5 with the mention “cancelled”.

A press release sent this Thursday by the press service of the record company, entitled “Jacques Dutronc has paid for his last tour”, even speaks of “Jacques’s farewell to the stage”.

“It was the last date (Wednesday)… Unless we change our minds in a few months! My father preferred not to pull too hard and pay attention to his health,” Thomas Dutronc said in a statement posted online on Thursday by the night at the “Parisian” site.

Surprise returns are common in show business, even at older ages. Michel Sardou, 75, had assured the Parisian who stopped the stage in 2018, before announcing in this same newspaper (and in other media) last November that he was going to return there in 2023.
