Why does James Cameron show pregnant women in combat in Avatar: The Way Of Water?

James Cameron has a solid reputation when it comes to bringing amazing female characters to the big screen. Between the return of Sigourney Weaver as Ripley in aliens Linda Hamilton’s turn as a self-taught soldier terminator 2or again Neytiri by Zoe Saldana in 2009 Avatars, the director clearly makes it a priority to bring women to life in his films for others to admire. This time for Avatar: the path of waterputting pregnant women first was especially important to Cameron.

the Avatars continuation has Jake Sully and Neytiri having a very much his own family because James Cameron is a father five years old and wanted to explore that in his latest film. Talking about why she originally included a hunt for pregnant Neytiri water pathwith his Titanic actress Kate Winslet Ronal’s character, who goes into battle with a bun in the oven, the Titanic the director said this:

Everyone is always talking about empowering women. But what is such an important part of a woman’s life that we men don’t know? We experience warfare and that sort of thing and women are protected because they are the fairer sex, so I thought, ‘Well, if you really want to go all the way to women with power, we’re going to have a six months pregnant female warrior in combat

James Cameron has cited his fifth wife, Suzy Amis Cameron, as an inspiration for the film element, saying she often treats pregnancy as a “sporting event”. Also, she was by her side as they prepared for childbirth three times. The couple has three daughters ranging in age from 15 to 21, plus Cameron has a 29-year-old daughter with ex Linda Hamilton and a 32-year-old son with ex Sam Robards. Cameron continued:

It hasn’t happened in our society, it probably hasn’t happened for hundreds of years. But, I assure you, in the past, women had to fight to survive and protect their children, and it didn’t matter if they were pregnant. And pregnant women are far more capable of being far more athletic than we as a culture recognize… To me, that was the last bastion you don’t see. Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel — all these other amazing women show up, but they’re not mothers and they’re not pregnant while they’re fighting evil.

Cameron’s words about pregnant Na’vi women in Avatar: the path of water they said during a The variety conversation with fellow director Robert Rodríguez. As you pointed out, women have been pregnant for… well, forever, and they’ve had to do hard things like hunt and fight while creating life. The director shared that he has yet to see a mother take center stage in blockbusters like wonderful woman Yes captain marveland felt that showing pregnant women in combat in his film was the “last bastion” that the general public had yet to see.

Ahead of its second weekend in theaters over the holidays, Avatar: the path of water earned $609 million worldwide, I don’t put the wonder numbers so far . The franchise should grow more Avatars then, first with the Third Avatars movie which is currently scheduled to launch in December 2024. We are certainly excited to see how the New Avatars characters introduced in the sequel including its badass women, continue to expand into the future.
