Maxi Jazz, lead singer of British electronic music group Faithless, has died at the age of 65 announced the group this weekend. The artist, real name Maxwell Fraser, died at his home in south London, according to the band, known for “Insomnia” and “God is a DJ.”

“We are heartbroken to report that Maxi Jazz passed away peacefully in his sleep last night,” the band tweeted Saturday, paying tribute to one of Faithless’s founding members in 1995.

Sister Bliss paid tribute to the artistsharing a black and white photo of him on Twitter, sending “love to all of you who have shared our musical journey.” The reggae group UB40 meanwhile, he praised a “lovely guy,” recalling touring with Maxi Jazz & The E-Type Boys, another group by the artist, in 2017.
Hailing from Brixton, south London, he was a staunch supporter of Crystal Palace, rising to become associate manager of the football club in 2012. The club greeted on Twitter a “legendary musician” and that the team would take the field at a Faithless track on Monday to pay their respects.
