Actress Tunisha Sharma allegedly committed suicide on the set of an Indian TV show on Saturday. The rising star was shooting scenes for Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul, a popular Sony SAB show in which she co-stars, when she should be out to go to the bathroom. When she didn’t return, other people on set reportedly broke down the door and found her hanging. She was rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save her. She was only 20 years old.
In the aftermath of her tragic death, police arrested her co-star Sheezan Mohammed Khan. The 28-year-old protagonist of Ali Baba he is said to have dated Tunisha Sharma up until two weeks before her death. She was reportedly distraught over her breakup and, according to a complaint from her mother, Khan was arrested for “instigating suicide.” A court in Vasai ordered him to spend the next four days in police custody, according to Indian Express. Khan’s lawyer met with the media yesterday and second means of communication AINHe called the allegations “unsubstantiated”. He claims the police have his client’s phone number and have found no evidence to support the “incitement” to suicide.
Tunisha Sharma rose to fame as a popular child actress. She first appeared on the show. Maharana Pratap then played a younger version of Katrina Kaif in several films. Kaif is one of the most popular and highest paid actresses in Bollywood and this association has helped boost her career by landing several notable roles including in Ali Babawhich aired 108 episodes before his death.
Not much is publicly known about Khan and Sharma’s relationship or what may have led to their breakup. However, the case is attracting a lot of media attention in India, so more details are likely to emerge. According to some reports, the police have already done this talked to fourteen people including some of the show’s co-stars who told the media that the two’s relationship was known on set.

The investigation into Tunisha Sharma’s death will continue as further evidence is collected by the local police. She was reportedly cremated later this week once family members arrived from out of town.
