Does anyone else miss the Avengers? It’s been over a decade since the original six members of Team Marvel first came together to save the world before heading to their local shawarma joint for steak sandwiches. Next time you come back to see all the Marvel movies in order look closely at a detail in famous post-credits shawarma scene of the 2012 film, especially Chris Evans.
at the end of The Avengers, after Tony Stark nearly dies while putting an end to the invasion of New York. Once he is found alive and well, he asks his fellow heroes if they would like to try shawarma with him. And of course, after the credits, a scene of the Avengers quietly chewing on their sandwiches plays at the end The Avengers. instagram The Hidden Marvel Detail account noted this at the scene:
As the short video is being shared, Chris Evans’ Captain America brings a hand to his face and doesn’t eat because he actually had a beard and was working one of his other great roles, snow drill . The detail is absolutely true, even if it may not seem evident in the scene itself. What The Avengers Director Joss Whedon previously revealed Marvel’s Directors’ Roundtable during a special screening for Avengers: Infinity War (through yell at the screen ) on the shawarma scene:
It was during… while we were doing the press after the premiere at the hotel. There was a shawarma restaurant, like, three blocks away. [Kevin Feige] to everyone there. Evans had a beard. So they put, like… He looked like Warren Beatty Dick Tracy, like, a giant jaw on him, and he just hid it like that. [puts his right-hand over his jaw].
Evans’ beard was covered by a prosthetic face to prevent the beard from showing. Moreover, The AvengersThe cast spoke to uh , where it was revealed that Robert Downey Jr. often made fun of Evans’ appearance during the scene. Apparently his mouth was almost shut for the scene, so Steve Rogers had no lines and wasn’t eating.
Along with the details about Chris Evans during this scene, it’s pretty crazy that it was orchestrated after the film’s release and was only weeks away from hitting theaters around the world. It was definitely a fun addition to The Avengers we weren’t soon forgotten.
Ten years later, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has certainly changed a lot. Chris Evans’ Captain America is not ready to return after his moving farewell in Avengers endingand many of those heroes now have younger stars taking up those mantles, including Ironheart for Iron Man, who was introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever .
