Knives Out fans have the best reactions to Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc and Hugh Grant in Glass Onion

Hugh Grant appears briefly on screen in the middle of glass onion and while the cameo isn’t significant to the mystery at hand, it has become one of the most talked-about moments of the film. While never explicitly stated, Grant’s appearance would seem to indicate that Daniel Craig’s Benoit Banc is gay and that he and Grant’s character, known only as Philip, are in a relationship. When we first see Benoit Blanc in glass onion he is sitting in the tub playing Between us along with four of the film’s other notable cameos, Stephen Sondheim, Angela Lansbury, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Natasha Lyonne. Then we hear the voice of a man, Philip, who tells Blanc that he has a visitor. Only later in the film do we learn that Philip is played by Hugh Grant. It’s a moment that makes fans scream.

There are many people who love this couple and want to see more. There are calls for everything from a romantic comedy starring Grant and Craig to hoping Grant will return for the third film in the series, and in a much bigger role. Something about this particular pair struck a chord with fans.

It also doesn’t make sense to advertise it like other movies, ostensibly as a way to get credit for having LGBTQ+ characters. At the same time, because the film is not specific, it is apparently possible to interpret the situation differently.

We know a third film in Benoit Blanc’s trilogy is on the way, so there’s definitely the possibility of a Hugh Grant return. We can be sure that the next film will include another stellar cast of suspects, and given the popularity of the various cameos glass onion, there’s a good chance we’ll see them again. Even if we only get a brief comeback from Philip, there are definitely fans who are happy to see him.
