Though it debuted on NBC over 30 years ago, there’s still a lot to love. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. The classic sitcom featured winning performances from Will Smith, Alfonso Ribeiro and company. as well as A+ gags and simply timeless gags. The show is also fondly remembered for its cavalcade of guest stars, many of whom have played love interests for Smith. Up until then, one could only wonder how the star handled the wave of beautiful and talented women who were on set. However, Smith has now explained that his father gave him NSFW advice on how to handle the circumstances.
fresh prince it was basically a who’s who of Hollywood in the 90s. As for actresses alone, the sitcom has hosted Naomi Campbell, Vivica A. Fox, Tyra Banks, Nia Long, and more. It’s certainly interesting that so many of these big names end up on the same show alongside the same lead. But as Will Smith explained, it wasn’t exactly expected. The Oscar-winning actor simply attributes it to the series’ position in the Hollywood scene at the time:
It wasn’t on purpose, but it’s the hottest show and one of the few black shows ever to air. So everyone came to Fresh Prince. Thank God I was married, surely I would have ruined my life if I hadn’t been married. I knew [the position I was in] How young you are too.
This explanation is correct, since fresh prince was one of most popular black comedies of the 90s . As for women, I can’t even imagine the idea of being in the I’m a legend position of the star at that moment. During Will Smith’s interview on Showtime all the smoke , even co-host Stephen Jackson admitted that he “would have been everywhere” had he been in the actor’s shoes. However, Smith hasn’t succumbed to any kind of temptation, after his father struck him with brutal wisdom early on:
My father was tough. He had done something…he Gave me the best quote. I was furious. I had girls at work and stuff, and he just yelled at me, “Keep your dick out of people’s money!” And I was like, [gasps].
It’s a red flag if I’ve ever heard one, even if it seems more than effective. As someone who has seen a lot cool prince episodes (that Will Smith says he can’t look ), I can say that it’s always fun to see the actor tear apart his lovers on screen. Some of these novels were better received than others, as co-star Alfonso Ribeiro was a bit annoyed with Smith (unintentionally). destroy a romance between Carlton and Tyra Banks’ Jackie .
But in the end, each of those fake relationships worked out perfectly, and… cool prince it’s definitely better (and more fun) to have them. I will say that whenever I see these scenes now, I will think of the lyrics Will Smith’s father passed on to him. Smith Sr. certainly knew how to paint a picture, but he argued that you shouldn’t let lust ruin your finances.
