Longtime viewers have seen incredible medical miracles happen over the course of the show, and when it comes to those big surgical scenes, it takes a lot to make them feel as authentic as possible. Grey’s Anatomy Actress Jaicy Elliot recently provided some insight into how long this process takes.
Jaicy Elliot, who has been playing Taryn Helm since season 14, spoke with him Hello! Revision about the effort it takes to make these surgeries realistic for the fans watching at home. Apparently, it’s not a quick process either, as he revealed:
A good anecdote is that any time you have a surgical cut, it can take up to two days to film and it’s really only thirty seconds. It’s a lot of work and in those moments you remember what it takes to create a moment. Whenever you see a setup, think of us because it takes a lot of time and precision to get it right.
I mean, shit. It really puts everyone’s hard work into perspective. These 30-second montages often go a long way toward serving the plot, whether it’s the surgeon’s story or the patient’s, but it’s hard to imagine the actors taking two days of filming for moments that come and go so quickly on screen.
Jaicy Elliot praised the team who work with the actors to make sure they seem to know what they’re doing when it’s time to grab the scalpel. She said:
We have a fantastic team of doctors working on the emission who are helping us to understand what we need to do to reassemble the surgery to make it realistic car well by our sommes in a dramatic version of reality so we receive beaucoup d’aide et beaucoup d’ Help .
The actress, who is also joined the brand team for some movies, he still has to be in surgery in season 19. His character lost his job in the season 18 finale , when the Gray Sloan Memorial Residency Program was closed.
