Walt Disney Studios has several worthy film franchises under its umbrella, but few can live up to the success of Pirates of the Caribbean. The action/adventure intellectual property has been incredibly profitable over the years, thanks in part to the leadership of people like producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Of course, the property’s winning big-screen performance was never a sure thing. In fact, Bruckheimer says he was surprised by how he was received by the public. The veteran producer has provided his reasoning for this one, and it makes sense.
Jerry Bruckheimer has helped propel more than a few hits in his day. The 79-year-old producer has helped create several beloved films, from beverly hills police Yes best weapon a Air conditioning Yes Armageddon. The veteran of the show recently sat down for an interview with DAY , during which he spoke about various aspects of his career. Midway through the conversation, the revered director was asked if he’d ever been surprised by the success of one of his productions. He named two black hawk down Yes pirate, explaining that the former was a risk because it was a dark story. As for the latter, he thought his roots in theme parks made him a great bet:
Pirates was based on a theme park ride. Disney had made Country Bears and Haunted Mansion. The two did not appear at the hearing. So here we are and the press criticizes us for being stupid? They make two misfires and make a third! However, it was huge.
He’s definitely right about that, considering Disney hadn’t had much luck translating their most popular theme park attractions into feature films until then. One could say that 2002 field bears it has become an afterthought to the general public. And while Eddie Murphy was driving Haunted house (which was actually published later pirate) made a major dent at the box office in 2003, it still wasn’t a big hit. So overall, Jerry Bruckheimer, his team, and his studio as a whole have taken a leap of faith.
The famed producer wasn’t actually the only person associated with 2003 Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl be wary of its feasibility. actress Elizabeth Swann Keira Knightley thought she was going to fail because he believed that pirate movies “always fail”. When you consider that these types of movies have been (and continue to be) hit and miss, you really can’t disagree with the sentiment. Even if it didn’t end up happening at all.
The Curse of the Black Pearl grossed over $600 million and spawned four theatrical sequels. As if, the franchise has raised over $4.5 billion worldwide at the box office, and that number could go up if Jerry Bruckheimer gets his way. In the same interview, he said so Margot Robbie’s reported film has not been ruled out and said a film with a younger cast is also in the works. Although Bruckheimer can not say for sure whether the character of Johnny Depp Jack Sparrow (who almost died) it will appear if any of the projects come true.
Despite this, the sky is still the limit for Pirates of the Caribbean, and Jerry Bruckheimer deserves a lot of praise for helping make him the phenomenon he has become. Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised if another installment is made someday. Whether such a project could achieve the same financial success that initially surprised Bruckheimer, we can only speculate.
the five Pirates of the Caribbean movies are currently available for Disney+ subscription – securities to be transmitted. Those looking forward to future theatrical fare can check out the 24 News Bulletin schedule from New movie releases 2023 .
