NCIS: Hawai’i Star is about the importance of queer characters and their portrayal in the franchise

wait NCIS: Hawaii the return to CBS for season 2 is finally nearing completion and the latest show in the franchise will return as part of a crossover event with NCIS. Now is a good time to review the events of the first season and how they have set what is to come, for better or for worse. According to Tori Anderson, who plays Kate Whistler, more “better” than “worse” awaits her character. in his relationship with Lucia . The actress spoke to Gossipify about the importance of queer characters like Kate and Lucy, as well as other representations.

Season 1 of NCIS: Hawaii arrived on DVD on September 6, so there’s time before the second season premiere on September 19 to check out the first batch of episodes (plus special features). Tori Anderson shared her thoughts on the show by not only presenting a weird relationship between Kate and Lucy, but making it the show’s biggest relationship, saying:

I think it’s very exciting. I know that’s what they wanted to do from the start of the show, but I think it’s really important that queer characters take up the same airtime and space as heterosexual relationships. And that’s really the only relationship you see from episode one to the end, and that you’ll see in season two as well. So I think it’s really exciting and essential to represent the world as we see it. And everyone should see themselves represented on screen and the success of that is why diversity is so important and why continuing to show these stories is so prevalent.

True Love’s course didn’t work very well for Kate and Lucy in Season 1, but they’ve clearly established themselves as a couple to cheer on. Kate struck the deal in the Season 1 finale with a sweet (and slightly awkward) rendition of “Make You Feel My Love” for Lucy who showed his softer, less career-focused side . His approach to him was more literal than Ernie had anticipated when he made some suggestions for communicating with Lucy, but it worked! Even though there was a romance elsewhere in Season 1, Kate and Lucy have established themselves as the greatest. Fans can certainly be happy to see that the relationship will continue throughout season 2 as well.

NCIS: Hawaii it also stands out when it comes to representation by other means. When Vanessa Lachey was cast as the main agent, the show has gone down in history as the first to enter NCIS franchise with a featured actress as the protagonist. After Gibbs in the original, Pride in NCIS: New Orleansand Callen NCIS: Los Angeles, Jane Tennant leading the action set in Hawaii was something new. When I asked Tori Anderson if she wanted to make history with Lachey in the lead during the filming of the first season, the actress revealed:

Absolutely. Not only is it a female driven show, but it’s a black woman, so I think it was monumental. It was really exciting, and it was definitely the draw when I auditioned. I was so excited about it, and I was really excited that there was also a homosexual agent from NCIS as one of the stars of the show. So I think it was monumental and I think it’s very successful. Vanessa brings such a different lead into the show and how she approaches Jane’s character with kindness, with heart, being a mother and how a woman would approach her in front of a man. And I think you do an amazing job.

Vanessa Lachey herself also explained what it means to her to bring primetime portrayal as a black woman, including how made her daughter look at her like she was Wonder Woman . There is no denying that, as Tori Anderson pointed out, NCIS: Hawaii is already very successful after just one season. SCS ordered multiple episodes of the show after only three were delivered, he then gave the order of a full season some days later. The renovation wasn’t exactly a surprise!

Season 2 is coming SCS (opens in a new tab) as the second half of a crossover event on Monday 19th September. NCIS kicks off the two-part game at 9 p.m. ET, with NCIS: Hawaii wrap things up at 10pm ET e some first images already reveal the protagonists of the two series by mixing them.

In the meantime, you can watch the full first season available on DVD, with over 45 minutes of special content accompanying all 22 episodes. The set also includes the two halves of the first NCIS Go through aired in March, complete with a reel of lines and some deleted scenes. The DVD set is out now and is worth a look as you await the return of the franchise. the 2022 television release program .
