Despite starting its fifth season without a string of guest stars, The Conners he reversed that trend a bit in the weeks leading up to his winter break, thanks to Celebrated the return of Estelle Parsons Yes We introduce you to Jane Curtain as Louise’s mother . This celebrity-friendly ride is sure to continue with the sitcom’s return in January, thanks to Shameless arrival of veterinarian William H. Macy , but he won’t be the only familiar face involved. This will also be the episode that features the return of a long-mentioned OG. rosanne character, which ABC finally confirmed with some first-look photos, and it’s a wild and unexpected reveal.
The next episode, titled “Two More Years and a Stolen Rose,” will bring the Hughleys Yes Lodge 49 Veteran Eric Allen Kramer returns to Lanford to reprise his role as Bobo, the thug who gave Dan aggro problems in rosanneThe first season of . Watch him take on William H. Macy’s Smitty Cusamano pictured below.
It was previously revealed that Macy’s Smitty was a former classmate of Dan’s that Jackie fell in love and Roseanne dated, and their episode would really feature the return to the screen of Lobo’s Lounge, the drunken hangout the adult characters frequented in the early seasons of the seminal sitcom. It makes sense that the story, which centers around the death of a longtime high school English teacher, is also the primary location for an OG character to reappear.
Definitely not an accidental fan appeal, Bobo’s character is the first and only rosanne appeared in the ninth episode of the series, “Dan’s Birthday Bash” which aired January 3, 1989. (Exactly 24 years before ABC confirmed the return, funny enough.) The central conflict of this episode was between Dan and Bobo, everywhere. the use of a pool table, and John Goodman’s birthday boy had to back out of their fight after Roseanne snapped. Still, Dan got the last laugh, covering up for the offensive asshole at the end of the episode. (Shouts out to fellow comedy vet William Sadler as Dwight.)
No sign of Dwight here, but it looks like another showdown between Dan and Bobo will take place in the winter premiere.
It is technically possible that the character has completely moved away from his abusive and ignorant verbal ways of the past and has taken on a new Zen perspective on life and women. But he’d probably be too good for anyone in Lanford, and he’s probably the same old asshole face. And if so, I hope the image below indicates that Bobo is audibly gutted by Drunk Jackie. I pretend the next moment is Jackie carefully running her finger across his chest, knowing it The Conners he doesn’t make the leap to body horror in the second half of season five.
I am therefore not alone Conner fans watching a classic rosanne the location has been brought back to life decades after it was last seen on TV, but we also have a character that I can’t imagine anyone really expecting to see again without showrunner Bruce Helford teasing that he is was experiencing a mysterious comeback. Hooray for more surprise retaliation like this!
The ConnersThe winter premiere is coming in the ABC January 12 at 8pm ET.
