Will King Carlos III be crowned in the absence of his youngest son? In a new excerpt from one of his interviews expected on Sunday, Prince Harry hints that he may not travel to the UK to attend the event. An explosive new statement, as recent excerpts from his upcoming memoir rock the monarchy.
King Carlos III, enthroned on September 8 on the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, will be crowned on May 6 in London. It will be the first coronation of the British monarchy since 1953, Elizabeth II having reigned for 70 years.
If the British press recently claimed that Harry and his wife Meghan would receive an invitation, the couple could turn it down. This is stated by the Duke of Sussex in a new extract from his interview with the British channel ITV, as part of the promotion of his book. alternate:
“A lot can happen between now and then,” he explains. “But my door is always open. The ball is in your court.”
“A lot of issues need to be discussed, and I really hope that (my family members) are willing to sit down and talk about it,” she adds. He concludes by stating that while he still believes in the monarchy, he “doesn’t know” if he will play a role within the institution in the future.
Diana would be “sad”
For a week, the revelations of Prince Harry behind the scenes of the monarchy have multiplied. Extracts from his memoirs alternate (Fayard), scheduled for January 10, were published by the British press. We learn in particular that his brother William “threw him to the ground” during a violent altercation over Meghan, that Harry tried cocaine in his youth, that he killed 25 Taliban while working in the army in Afghanistan or that he lost his virginity in the part of behind a pub
Additionally, various excerpts from their promotional interviews have been revealed. To that of ITV is added an interview granted to CNN, also broadcast on Sunday, and a third interview for Good morning america, expected on Monday. He talks about his fight with his brother, Prince William, and imagines what his mother, who died in 1997, would think:
“I think she would be sad,” he says. “I think she would look at the big picture, to see that we need to work on a few things to fix our relationship.”
He concludes: “I have felt my mother’s presence more in the last two years than in the last 30.”
Harry and Meghan left the monarchy with losses and a collapse in 2020. They settled in California where they raise their two children, Archie (3 years old) and Lilibet (19 months). They have often denounced the relentlessness of the British press towards Meghan, presented as the reason for her departure, but also the hostility of the royal family towards the latter.
