Ryan Reynolds reveals tribute to John Candy who worked on Deadpool

John Candy was a comedy icon and counted countless stars of film and television among his heroes. Ryan Reynolds is among those who claim to have an obsession with the actor, so much so that he has also created a tribute to Candy within it. dead Pool spectators could not even see.

In his appearance on Netflix My next guest needs no introduction to David Letterman (opens in a new tab), Ryan Reynolds talks about being big fans of people like John Candy and Steve Martin. it’s wonderful Planes, trains and cars A fan, no doubt, and he says that often if he’s not sure how to handle a scene, he’ll just try to channel Candy or Martin and do the scene his way. He explained…

Growing up, I had a real obsession with John Candy. And I still do. Steve Martin, a lot of guys coming out of SNL. If I’m confused by a scene or don’t know how to enter, I copy them. this kind of [Martin’s character] Neal Page, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, somewhat aggressively unimpressed, on the highest character type. I love it, I never get tired.

Reynolds is such a fan of John Candy that the actor apparently made a special prop dead Pool in homage to Candy Planes, trains and cars character. Reynolds recreated a book referencing the classic comedy and titled book The Canadian RiseHe appears in several scenes throughout the film, despite the audience seemingly not being able to see him. Reynolds continued…

It should basically be this non-fiction porn app. One of those trashy dudes, sub-Danielle Steel. We are talking about malice. You read it in Planes, Trains and Cars. And I have this book. It’s not exactly what she has, but I had it redone for Deadpool. And I carry it under my arm in different scenes. I don’t think it was ever seen on camera. But it’s those little things you try to never forget. Those people who have helped you grow where you are.

Usually when we see little homages or references in movies like this, those moments are clear to the audience because that’s part of the joke. Here, however, it seems Reynolds was simply focused on the homage itself, and cared much less if anyone else knew about it.

So next time you sit down and watch dead Pool, try keeping an eye on a book under Wade Wilson’s arm. Even if you can’t see what it is, you now know what the book is and why it’s there.
