Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida, a 95-year-old candidate for the legislative elections on September 25, fractured her femur when she fell and had to undergo surgery on Monday in Rome, her lawyer told AFP.
The former sex symbol, revealed in 1952 in Christian-Jaque’s “Fanfan la tulipe,” fell on Sunday at her Roman home and had to be hospitalized. She was due to have surgery Monday afternoon, Antonio Ingroia said.
Gina Lollobrigida is a candidate for a seat in the Senate on the list of “sovereign and popular Italy” which, according to polls, would not exceed the 3% threshold required to be elected.

The list advocates, among other things, Italy’s exit from the EU and NATO, the end of military aid to Ukraine, the lifting of sanctions against Russia and opposes the vaccination obligation.
Born on July 4, 1927 in the small town of Subiaco, in the heart of the Abruzzo mountains (central Italy), to a modest family that later settled in Rome, Gina Lollobrigida acted with the greatest actors of Franck Sinatra to Sean Connery, from Marcello Mastroianni to Humphrey Bogart.
He toured until 1962 in the United States and then ended up returning to Italy. He then appeared only occasionally in film and television.
“La Lollo” then returned to her first artistic loves, photography and then sculpture, to which she devoted herself entirely in the early eighties.
