Brendan Fraser and Seth Meyers explain how they are connected to James Cameron’s Avatar universe

The biggest movie in theaters right now is undoubtedly James Cameron’s. avatars 2 . The film that takes audiences back to Pandora uses innovative film technology specially designed for viewing in 3D after the premiere. Avatars being an innovative film for 3D. We certainly didn’t know or expect Brendan Fraser and Seth Meyers to be tied to this experiment from the beginning.

When Brendan Fraser recently made a guest appearance on Seth Meyers’ late night talk show, the pair recalled working together in 2008 on Journey to the Center of the Earth, another 3D film that apparently has a strong connection to James Cameron’s sci-fi adventure films. As Fraser shared:

[Journey of the Center of the Earth] it was the cutting edge of 3D technology as we see it now in the cinema. Because the cameras we used are those with which James Cameron did a sort of beta test. [Journey to the Center of the Earth]. We put them under water and dropped them off helicopters and then he took them to New Zealand and filmed Avatar with them.

The 2008 film had Brendan Fraser directing Warner Bros.’ big summer film based on the Jules Verne book of the same name. And as the actor explained, the 3D film was a kind of guinea pig for the cameras that James Cameron would use to Avatars when it comes to camera technology. Seth Meyers had a small role in the film as another professor who shut down Fraser’s character’s lab before embarking on his legendary adventure with a young Josh Hutcherson as his nephew.

During the interview on Late Night with Seth Meyersthe driver joked that people talk about both Journey to the Center of the Earth Yup Avatars likewise, of course, assuming Cameron’s film would become the highest-grossing film of all time, when his film has not been among the biggest hits of Brendan Fraser’s career so far, with his role in The Mummy movies remain his greatest success.
