Whether they appreciate Prince Harry’s (very) numerous revelations or not, the British have in any case rushed to his memoirs, officially in bookstores since January 10. According to its publisher, Penguin Random House, the book would be close to the records of another Harry, this one fictional, Harry Potter.
Replacement, alternate in French, it sold 400,000 copies (hardcovers, audiobooks, eBooks) on the first day, making it the best-selling nonfiction work of all time.
“Exceeds our expectations”
“We always knew this book would sell well, but it exceeds even our most optimistic expectations,” Penguin chief Larry Finlay said.
It must also be said that in the United Kingdom, in bookstores and on Amazon, it can be obtained in 14 books instead of the 28 announced.
The leaks that followed the accidental filing of the books in Spain last Thursday have only aroused the curiosity of the public. At least that is what Philip Jones, editor of the specialized magazine, thinks. the bookseller, for whom these leaks benefited the book, he told BBC News.
The book’s revelations have flooded the international press since last Thursday. Relationship with his brother William, mourning for Diana, drugs, frozen penis, the most “crunchy” information that is why it ended up in the press.
Also in France, the book, published in 200,000 copies, is selling well. At least the prince’s French publisher has decided to reprint 50,000 more copies.
